Flower wreath workshop at Warwick Arts Centre.

Creating a Christmas door ring featuring red roses and berries.

The first creation for the day was a Christmas door wreath featuring red roses and ilex berries. Everyone produced amazing results with a beautiful wreath to take home.

I was delighted to present the floristry Masterclass at Warwick University over the weekend.

It was a fantastic venue with a full class of 14 participants. Unfortunately we had to turn some people away as we were fully booked.Making aqua packed bouquets at the floristry workshop in Warwickshire.

Everybody had a great time and took home three professional arrangements.

I had help from Paul to unload all the flowers and sundries for the class early on Sunday morning.

Happy New Year & Thank You!

By Cindy | News , Wedding Flowers

As the New Year approaches, Pure Botanics will be entering it’s 9th year of business and I can definitely say I couldn’t be happier with the way things have gone over the years and 2012 was no exception. Over the last 8 years we have provided wedding flowers for hundreds of brides all over Warwickshire.

a couple with pure botanics wedding flowers

This year we have provided wedding flowers for a record-breaking amount of couples and have received some fabulous feedback and photos. The photo above was kindly sent to us by Owen and Emily (the bride and groom) from their wedding at Kenilworth Castle in 2012. It was a pleasure to provide their wedding flowers (some of which you can see in the photo).  We have always asked our couples to complete questionnaires for us and we now have 8 years worth of fabulous feedback.

Receiving Feedback

It’s such a delight to hear back from people, as it’s always really important to me to hear that everything was just how the couple wanted their wedding flowers to be.

Here is a wonderful feedback form that has just landed on the mat from Rebecca’s wedding on the 1st December. Here is what she had to say about her wedding flowers.

“The flowers reflected who we are and how we wanted our day to be. Couldn’t have asked for more. My family are reaping the rewards – having taken them all home!”

feedback from a recent pure botanics bride
You can see Rebecca’s wedding flowers in the blog post below. It also features Paula and Dom’s wedding flowers on the 8th December you can also read their delightful comments on my face book page!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all past and future customers a very Happy New Year and to say thank you, as without you we wouldn’t be where we are today. Very Best Wishes, Cindy and the whole Pure Botanics team.

Autumn Wedding Flowers – Walton Hall

By Cindy | News , Wedding Flowers

We always love it when people send us through photos of their wedding flowers and we were delighted to receive these recent pictures from Lindsay and Marks wedding at Walton Hall.

bride and bridesmaids holding autumn wedding bouquets

Wedding Bouquets

These autumn wedding flowers were a great choice of Lindsay’s. I designed bouquets of vibrant autumn colours to stand out against the deep purple of the bridesmaids’ dresses. You can see how beautiful they looked, I just love this rich colour theme and it so suited an October wedding.

autumn themed wedding bouquetFrom the first time I met Lindsay she emphasised how keen she was to run with an autumn wedding flower colour theme. I added purple to the orange and lime green colour theme to link with the bridesmaids’ dresses.

The Wedding Ceremony

I dressed the church, St James, Walton with lots of candles, gauds, red and orange leaves, rose petals and Chinese lanterns to fit with the theme. It looked delightful and warm when all the candles were lit just before the wedding ceremony.

Reception – Autumn Wedding Flowers

It was a delightful wedding to work on and I’m always keen to develop ideas with brides to create their own unique wedding flowers.

At Pure Botanics we understand that every wedding is different and really enjoy designing original wedding flowers for every bride.

New Trends in Christmas Decorations

By Cindy | News

We have just got back from a trip down to Liberty’s  this week as they opened their Christmas decoration shop on the 4th floor of their store on Regent Street, London.  As you know, at Pure Botanics we always like to know what are the up and coming trends and Christmas is no exception.

christmas decoration shopping at liberty me in the christmas shop in liberty

In true Liberty fashion they have gone to town with their Christmas shop covered in a ceiling of fairy lights, which surrounds the iconic central atrium. It really is a Christmas paradise, themed by colour and featuring all this year’s Christmas decoration trends.

new designs of christmas stockingsI had a ball as you can see from the permanent smile on my face (photo below). I really enjoy sourcing Christmas decorations for our clients. It’s a great chance for me to get my creative juices flowing and design new and fashionable decorations to get out ready for this Christmas.

silver christmas decorationsChristmas (like weddings) has gone back to our heritage with a definite trend for vintage themed decorations. I rather liked this pewter silver colour theme (see photo below) that gives a lovely antique finish to the tree baubles.

Pollen in Lily Wedding Flowers

By Cindy | News , Wedding Flowers

It is essential that all of the pollen is removed from lily wedding flowers. Any of you will know that if you’ve had lilies in the house the pollen from these beautiful flowers is lethal. They can literally stain anything from clothing, furniture, hands and carpets. So the best policy is to remove the pollen as soon as the lily flowers opens.

cutting out the pollen from lily wedding flowers
Here you can see me cutting out the pollen, the easiest way to keep the pollen from staining your fingers it you cut it out.

Collecting Pollen

When I’m working on a wedding with a lot of lilies I can spend a lots of time collecting pollen over the days before the lily wedding flowers go out to the bride and the wedding venue. Here you can see how much pollen I collected from Hayley’s wedding flowers, as all of her table arrangements were a mass of lilies.

pollen collected from lily wedding flowersNo Staining

It’s essential that we remove any pollen in a bridal bouquet, as the last thing you would want is pollen staining on a wedding dress.

It’s also important that all the pollen is removed from lilies in table centrepieces, pedestal arrangements and top table flowers as they could stain guest’s clothes or table linen.

It’s also useful to remove the pollen in lily wedding flowers so that it doesn’t effect people that suffer from hay fever or allergies.

Wedding Cake Decorations

By Cindy | News , Wedding Flowers

shopping in marks and spencers for wedding cakesOver the years we have added wedding cake decorations to many Marks and Spencers cakes. If you didn’t already know M and S now have a great range of wedding cakes.

You can choose the size, flavour, number of tiers and of course the decoration. The thing that I really like about their cakes is you can literally design your own wedding cake.

Here you can see me in the Leamington Spa Marks and Spencer with their iced fruitcakes. You can literally pick your cake off the shelf including accessories like the pillars.

You can also order their cakes online and get them delivered straight to your wedding venue.

Wedding Cake Flowers

gloriosa flowers used to decorate a wedding cakeHere you can see one we decorated for Mel and Bill for their wedding at Ettington Park Hotel.

Mel added the beautiful satin ribbon and diamante brooch detailing then I added the stunning gloriosa flowers.

These flowers also featured in her bridal bouquet, table centrepieces and seating plan. Decorating the cake with the same flowers links all the wedding flowers.

The right wedding cake decorations really can transform these cakes making them unique and special to your own wedding theme.

a wedding cake decorated in orchidsIn this photo you can see how I have added cymbidium orchids so that they cascade down the front of the wedding cake. This was another one of Marks and Spencers cakes, Deborah, the bride had seen it decorated with orchids on their website and asked me to recreate the same look.

Deborah had a bouquet of cymbidium orchids as well as them featuring in her wedding centrepieces so the wedding cake flowers fitted in perfectly.

The only thing to remember with these cakes is that you will need to assemble it, some venues will do this for you but I would recommend that you check with them first.
