Purple Wedding Colour Theme

Here you can see Gemma’s bridal bouquet. She chose beautiful ivory ‘Avalanche’ roses and dark purple lisianthus to coordinate with her purple wedding colour theme.

Gemma was married at Kenilworth Castle and we carried this colour theme through to her ceremony arrangements, which included jugs full of ivory and purple flowers to sit on the windowsill at the castle.

We also created two flower trees to stand outside the entrance to the castle, you can just see them here in the photo below. I tied beautiful long satin ribbon bow to the base of the trees, which included ivory flowers including roses.

I’ve just got back from delivering Frances’s Easter wedding bouquets at Ardencote Manor in Claverdon. We are always very busy working on bank holiday weekends and Easter is no exception.

Above you can see the bridal bouquet which features white roses, freesias, red hypericum berries and leucadendron. I also placed rosemary and eucalyptus through out the bouquet. Frances (the bride) was keen to have rosemary in her bouquet to add fragrance and texture. This bouquet smelt wonderful with the delicate perfume of freesias, eucalyptus and of course the rosemary.

Bridesmaid’s Wedding Flowers

Here you can see the bridesmaid’s posy bouquet. I’ve combined the white freesias with the eucalyptus and rosemary to produce this very pretty bouquet. It will look stunning in front of the bridesmaid’s dress, as it’s a deep red colour.

We advise brides to go for a light colour in front of dark dresses so that the flowers stand out.

The Ardencote Manor was very busy this morning with people enjoying the bank holiday weekend. With our move to Little Alne, we are now only 10 minutes down the road from the Ardencote Manor, which makes it a very close wedding venue to us.

Frances had a red and white wedding colour theme and we followed this colour theme through the Easter wedding bouquets.

Here you can see one of the three wands that the young flower girls are going to hold. Rose flower wands were perfect for these girls as they are aged 4, 5 & 6yr old.

The rose also coordinated with the bridal bouquet and I picked up the red colour theme of the bridesmaids dress in the ribbon bow detailing.

I’ve also been delivering Easter wedding bouquets to Kenilworth Castle on Good Friday and will have to share that with you later on in the month, as that wedding also had beautiful wedding flowers that were very different to this one.

Peonies are such beautiful wedding flowers and here you can see the pale pink peony. I love working with this flower as they give off such a beautiful fragrance.

I use them throughout the spring in bridal bouquets. They work really well in handtied posy bouquets when combined with other flowers such as roses, lisianthus, ranunculus and freesias. They also look stunning when used on their own.

Peony Wedding Flowers

Peonies are an incredibly popular wedding flower, but unfortunately they are only available in the spring through to the early summer.

They come in white, peach, deep pink/red and the lovely pale pink that you can see here.

If you are having peonies in your wedding bouquet you can also continue them through to your wedding centrepieces.

We have lots of designs for both peony wedding bouquets and peony wedding centrepieces.

Here you can a see a box of ranunculus wedding buttonholes ready to be delivered to the groom. I think these are perfect spring wedding flowers and a great size for making into buttonholes.

Here you can see that I have made the buttonholes using the cream ranunculus and white bouvardia flower heads backed with ivy leaves.

The bride had a handtied posy bouquet of peonies and the bridesmaid and flower girl bouquets were made using the peonies and bouvardia so all the wedding flowers tied into together.

I also used the ranunculus in the wedding centrepieces, which featured hydrangeas, peonies, freesias and ranunuculus. These low centrepieces looked beautiful and fresh for a spring wedding.

Ranunculus are in season from the autumn through to the spring. They come in pink, white, cream, deep red, yellow, orange, pink and my all time favourite pink and white stripe.

If you are planning a spring wedding you might want to think about having ranunculus wedding buttonholes.

I just loved making this pink lisianthus wedding bouquet, I think it looks stunning. Lisianthus are such beautiful wedding flowers and fit so well with the trend for vintage wedding decorations.

Bridal Bouquets

We use lisianthus in mixed posy bouquets with other flowers such as rose, freesias, stocks and peonies but equally they work well on their own as you can see in the photo of the wedding bouquet here.

Lisianthus come in shades of pink, cream, white, lilac and ivory which gives us a good range of colours to fit in with many wedding colour themes.

Lisianthus Wedding Flowers

As well as using lisianthus in bridal bouquets I also use them in table decorations and have even used the buds for buttonholes for a groom who wanted something a little bit different.

Another great thing about lisianthus is they are available all the year round so it doesn’t matter what time of year you are getting married.

As the winter draws to an end and spring looks to be finally on its way I just wanted to share these photos with you of some unusual and stunning winter wedding flowers that I worked on in January at Wethele Manor.

Unusual Tall Wedding Centrepieces

When I met Sarah and Seb (the bride and groom) they made it clear to me that they were looking for something very different and original for their winter wedding flowers, and that’s certainly what I did. I love a challenge and thoroughly enjoyed working on their winter wedding in January.

Through discussing ideas with Sarah and her Mum I came up with the design for their table arrangements that you can see here in the marquee at Wethele Manor. Sarah had her heart set on silver twigs and fairy lights and you can see here how I have combined underwater lights (inside the vases) with tall silver twigs to make these unique tall wedding centrepieces.

The marquee looked amazing as the light faded in the late afternoon and into the evening as all the underwater lights lit up the tables.

Winter Wedding Flowers

The whole wedding was themed around a winter wonderland with the table names featuring skiing destinations. I even saw a member of the wedding party taking fake snowballs to the church to throw instead of confetti!

The winter wedding flowers that I used in the bridal bouquets were white calla lilies and roses.

Last month I worked on a wedding with a navy blue wedding colour theme and just the other day I spoke to three brides who were thinking of having blue bridal bouquets!

Over the years we have produced some stunning blue bridal bouquets at various times of the year.

It may be an unusual choice of colour as there are not so many blue flowers available but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Some of our brides have chosen all blue bouquets like this elegant hydrangea bouquet you can see above (photo left). Other brides have chosen to combine blue with other colours like the one you can see here on the right.

Combining Blue With Other Colours

There are many ways to incorporate blue into your bridal bouquets whether it’s just by adding a touch of colour or by letting it be more dominant.

If you are prepared to be bold with your use of colour then you can combine blue with other strong colours like purple. I simply love this posy bouquet that you can see here. I had a wonderful time putting this together and love the rich blue combined with the deep purple.

It was an absolute pleasure to work on Jenni’s purple bridal flowers for her summer wedding at Wroxall Abbey.

She made a wonderful choice of purple wedding flowers including deep purple lisianthus to match the bridesmaid’s dresses and lilac purple freesias. These were bought to life with the white oriental lilies in her shower bouquet and white roses in the bridesmaid’s posy bouquets.

As well as producing Jenni’s purple bridal flowers we also coordinated the decorations in Wren’s Cathedral and the Mansion at Wroxall Abbey.

We always love it when people send us through photos of their wedding flowers and we were delighted to receive these recent pictures from Lindsay and Marks wedding at Walton Hall.

Wedding Bouquets

These autumn wedding flowers were a great choice of Lindsay’s. I designed bouquets of vibrant autumn colours to stand out against the deep purple of the bridesmaids’ dresses. You can see how beautiful they looked, I just love this rich colour theme and it so suited an October wedding.

From the first time I met Lindsay she emphasised how keen she was to run with an autumn wedding flower colour theme. I added purple to the orange and lime green colour theme to link with the bridesmaids’ dresses.

The Wedding Ceremony

I dressed the church, St James, Walton with lots of candles, gauds, red and orange leaves, rose petals and Chinese lanterns to fit with the theme. It looked delightful and warm when all the candles were lit just before the wedding ceremony.

Reception – Autumn Wedding Flowers

In the photo here (left) you can see the wedding centrepieces for the reception at Walton Hall. I placed large goldfish bowls filled with deep orange roses on the centre of all the tables.

It was a delightful wedding to work on and I’m always keen to develop ideas with brides to create their own unique wedding flowers.
