We always love it when people send us through photos of their wedding flowers and we were delighted to receive these recent pictures from Lindsay and Marks wedding at Walton Hall.

Wedding Bouquets

These autumn wedding flowers were a great choice of Lindsay’s. I designed bouquets of vibrant autumn colours to stand out against the deep purple of the bridesmaids’ dresses. You can see how beautiful they looked, I just love this rich colour theme and it so suited an October wedding.

From the first time I met Lindsay she emphasised how keen she was to run with an autumn wedding flower colour theme. I added purple to the orange and lime green colour theme to link with the bridesmaids’ dresses.

The Wedding Ceremony

I dressed the church, St James, Walton with lots of candles, gauds, red and orange leaves, rose petals and Chinese lanterns to fit with the theme. It looked delightful and warm when all the candles were lit just before the wedding ceremony.

Reception – Autumn Wedding Flowers

In the photo here (left) you can see the wedding centrepieces for the reception at Walton Hall. I placed large goldfish bowls filled with deep orange roses on the centre of all the tables.

It was a delightful wedding to work on and I’m always keen to develop ideas with brides to create their own unique wedding flowers.

It’s really easy to find the Arden Centre, as Little Alne is a very small village, all on one main road. The Arden Centre is a small business park consisting of ten companies in converted farm buildings. Pure Botanics is situated in the courtyard and you can’t miss us as we have a great new sign on the front of the building.

Sorry we haven’t been posting much news during December but we have been very busy. I had a wonderful time working on Becky and Jon’s wedding the week before Christmas, producing their wedding flowers at Wroxall Abbey.

As Christmas is a favourite time of the year for them both a wedding on the 17th December was perfect. I’ve just received a link from Becky’s mum to this wonderful video of their wedding, which I love. Becky looks absolutely stunning and everyone is having such a great time.

Becky chose red and white roses to feature in all her wedding flowers and her mum tells me that she loved her bridal bouquet so much she refused to throw it!

We’ve been very busy at Pure Botanics creating new and original Christmas decorations for our corporate clients. The recent trend for a vintage theme is not only reserved for weddings we’ve taken it through into our Christmas decorations as well.

I spent November making unique decorations that included 60 metres of Christmas bunting, some of which you can see on the Christmas tree in the photo above. One of our clients went for the very fashionable red and white colour theme that fits perfectly with the vintage look. We also created these very popular vase arrangements for them, full of beautiful baubles (photo below).

I also sourced 100’s of new baubles, lights and not forgetting the all-important Christmas trees. I’ve already decorated and installed 10 trees just a few more to go before Christmas week.

I love working on the Christmas decoration projects as it uses all my creative skills and people really enjoy seeing decorations that are a little bit more original.

In the photo here you can see a thank you bouquet that I recently created for one of our October brides. Lindsey (the bride) used the wonderful autumn wedding colour theme for all of her flowers and here you can see one of the Mum’s thank you bouquets that we created for her. (I shall be doing another blog post later on showing you the bridal flowers we created for Lindsey).

We often try to theme the thank you bouquets to the rest of the wedding flowers as it makes a really special gift for the Mum’s receiving them. I love the deep rich oranges and yellow that we used in this bouquet as it was so fitting for an October wedding.

A Special Thank You Gift

This £50 thank you bouquet (photo above) features beautiful cymbidium orchids, roses, lilies, gerberas, freesias, lisianthus and stunning autumn foliage. Our deluxe bouquets are always presented in these stylish black box bags as it makes them really easy for transporting home after the wedding. All of our thank you bouquets are aqua packed so they stay fresh if the recipient is staying overnight at the wedding.

Candle wedding decorations are a popular choice at any time of the year but they are really effective for autumn and winter weddings.

We have a range of candle wedding centrepieces and here (photo above) you can see one of our new designs featuring a large multi wick candle. I’ve packed hydrangeas and roses around the outside of the candle to link with the rest of the wedding flowers. The multi wick candle is just a bit more original and gives you even more candlelight.

Candelabra Wedding Centerpieces

This year many of our weddings have featured hydrangeas, this flower has become so popular with the trend for vintage themed weddings.

In the photo here (left) you can see how I decorated our silver candelabras with hydrangeas, roses and freesias for Emma and Nick’s wedding which was on Friday at Walton Hall.

Candelabras look beautiful in the Moncrief room as they fit with the period and décor of the hotel.

You can also see (in the photo below) how I linked the candle wedding decorations of Emma and Nick’s wedding through to their top table. I did this by placing three large church candles into this stunning long and low arrangement. I positioned this on the registrar’s table for use during the ceremony and then it was going to be moved to the top table for the wedding breakfast.

Church Candle Wedding Decorations

Candle wedding decorations don’t just have to be restricted to wedding centrepieces, we also use candles to decorate churches. Here you can see how I decorated the church windowsill in St James at Walton for Lindsey’s autumn wedding.

Lindsey chose to have wedding flowers that matched the colours of the season, we used a lot of beautiful rich orange roses that were teamed with lime green and purple as her bridesmaids wore dresses in deep purple. This colour theme was stunning and I decorated the church to match the autumn colour theme.

In the photo (above left) you can see how I placed mini gourds, orange rose petals, leaves and physalis lanterns in-between a series of different height candles. Bands of Hessian ribbon and leaves were also added to give the candles more colours.

Either side of the altar (photo above right) we placed our beautiful silver candle stands decorated in the same flowers that were used in all of the wedding bouquets. When lit, all these candles added a really romantic affect to this pretty little church.

This morning I was back at the Abbey discussing wedding flowers for a bride in September next year.

Stoneleigh Abbey will provide you with a magnificent backdrop for your wedding photographs as it’s not only an impressive looking building it also has view across the beautiful Warwickshire countryside. The photo here was taken with the river Avon as its backdrop on the terrace near to the Orangey.

Wedding Centrepieces

Today we were discussing how to decorate the Saloon in the Abbey with flowers for the wedding breakfast. This classic room with its high decorative ceiling lends itself particularly well to tall wedding centrepieces. This type of centrepiece will add that extra special touch to this beautiful room and will enable you to add your own style and colour theme.

The Saloon is situated in the West wing of the Abbey, which can be hired out exclusively for weddings. We have many years of experience of delivering wedding flowers to stately homes, castles and heritage buildings as extra care needs to be taken at these historic venues.

Here you can some recent wedding flowers that I produced for Denise and Vas’s wedding at Kenilworth Castle. It’s always great to be working on wedding flowers that are slightly different and unique to the couple.

As it was going to be an autumn wedding the bride and groom were keen to use autumnal colours. Having looked through our portfolio Denise fell in love with a deep purple colour and you can see the bouquet we created for her in the photo below. Her handtied bridal bouquet featured dark purple calla lilies, statice, lisianthus and green Ammi. The bridesmaids held smaller versions.

You can also see the posy bouquet created for the ‘Best Lady’, which featured the burnt orange rose that the gents were wearing, and the deep purple lisianthus from the bridal bouquets. I love this vibrant colour theme as the strong vibrant orange works really well with the deep purple.

The two mothers wore wrist corsages that you can see in the photo above. They also featured both the orange and purple colours.

The colour theme was coordinated through to the ceremony flowers for Kenilworth Castle. You can see in the photo here that the couple chose our popular jug arrangements to sit on the beautiful windowsill at Kenilworth castle. We added lime green and white flowers to these arrangements as purple can be a little bit too dark for the castle.

The jug arrangements were going to be transported down the road to the couple’s wedding breakfast that was being held literally just over the road at Harrington’s on the Hill restaurant.

We had a wonderful trip down to London to see the summer exhibition at Buckingham Palace. The exhibition featured the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress, shoes, jewellery, wedding bouquet and cake.

I love the way that the meaning of flowers was incorporated into all the different aspects of her wedding. From the lace on her wedding dress, to the 17 different types of flowers on her wedding cake right through to the flowers she chose for her wedding bouquet. Even the earrings especially designed for her by her parents contained acorns.

The Wedding Dress

The wedding dress was obviously the star of the show, I was amazed at how close you could get up to it. Unfortunatly all video and photographic equipment is not allowed in the palace! Still I managed to buy the postcards you see here from the gift shop.

One surprise was a great video interview of Sarah Burton shown on a big screen in the ballroom. She described how every aspect of the dress was designed and talked you through every stage of it’s creation, which fascinated me.

She explained how they designed the lace, cutting elements from several different pieces to create an original lace design. This lace incorporates the four flower symbols of the United Kingdom with the rose for England, the Shamrock for Ireland, the daffodil for Wales and the thistle for Scotland. Sarah also showed us how the lace was pinned to Kate’s shoes and sent off to the royal school of needlework at Hampton Court for hand stitching.

All Coordinated by the Meaning of Flowers

There was also a replica of the Duchess’s intricate teardrop shaped wedding bouquet, created out of silk flowers including the delicate lily of the valley. The bouquet was displayed in a cabinet next to her earrings and shoes.

The final part of the exhibition is a cabinet containing the wedding cake with its 900 delicate iced flowers of seventeen different types all chosen by the duchess for their meanings and symbols.

Visiting London?

If you are in London and can get tickets to visit Buckingham Palace it really is worth it. But just don’t forget to wear your comfy shoes as you really do get to walk through all of the breath taking staterooms. The end of the visit is finished with a walk through the Palace gardens, lucky for us it was a glorious sunny day for us to enjoy the grounds.

We have just got back from a trip down to Liberty’s  this week as they opened their Christmas decoration shop on the 4th floor of their store on Regent Street, London.  As you know, at Pure Botanics we always like to know what are the up and coming trends and Christmas is no exception.

In true Liberty fashion they have gone to town with their Christmas shop covered in a ceiling of fairy lights, which surrounds the iconic central atrium. It really is a Christmas paradise, themed by colour and featuring all this year’s Christmas decoration trends.

I had a ball as you can see from the permanent smile on my face (photo below). I really enjoy sourcing Christmas decorations for our clients. It’s a great chance for me to get my creative juices flowing and design new and fashionable decorations to get out ready for this Christmas.

Christmas (like weddings) has gone back to our heritage with a definite trend for vintage themed decorations. I rather liked this pewter silver colour theme (see photo below) that gives a lovely antique finish to the tree baubles.
